Phoenix Metro

Your air conditioner can be the most efficient unit on the market and it still won't keep your house comfortable if the ductwork is wrong. In the Phoenix Metro — where homes from the 1960s to the 2020s sit side by side — bad ductwork is the single most common reason we see for hot rooms, high bills, and short equipment life.

Fast Track Heating and Cooling designs and installs new ductwork for new builds, additions, and replacement projects across the Valley. We do it the long way: load calculation, duct sizing per Manual D, sealed and insulated runs, balanced supply and return.

Signs your ductwork needs work

Hot rooms in the same house. Whistling registers. A system that runs constantly but never gets cold. Visible insulation tears or gray dust around the registers. Utility bills that keep climbing even though your system is the same age and the weather isn't unusual. Any of these are duct symptoms.

Studies put average duct loss in unconditioned attics at 25–40% — meaning a third of the air your AC produces never reaches the rooms. In a Phoenix attic that hits 140°F, that loss is even higher because hot attic air leaks into return-side runs and gets pulled back into your living space.

How we design and install ducts

We start with the same load calculation we use for equipment sizing, then run a Manual D duct design that accounts for your system's static pressure capability, the run lengths, fitting losses, and the airflow each room actually needs. Trunk lines are sized for proper velocity, branch runs are sized for the room load, and returns are sized to match — undersized returns are the most common defect we see in Arizona homes.

Materials are sealed sheet metal trunks with insulated flex branches, mastic-sealed at every connection, R-8 insulated through unconditioned attic space. We pressure-test the finished system before drywall closes anything up.

When to redesign vs. when to repair

If your system is being replaced and the existing ducts are 20+ years old, undersized, or visibly damaged, full redesign is almost always the better long-term spend. If the ductwork is sound but has a few specific issues — a crushed run, a torn boot, a missing register — targeted repair makes more sense. We'll tell you honestly which category you're in.

Serving the Entire Phoenix Metro

Arizona attics are uniquely hostile to duct systems. Surface temperatures inside an attic in July routinely exceed 140°F, which accelerates insulation degradation, breaks down mastic, and amplifies any duct leakage. Newer East Valley builds in Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek often have ducts in conditioned space (much better), but most homes in Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, and central Phoenix still have attic-routed ductwork that benefits hugely from being properly sealed and insulated.

From dense Phoenix neighborhoods to spread-out Queen Creek acreage, our trucks run the entire Valley every day. We know which subdivisions have undersized return ducts, which Mesa zip codes still have R-22 systems hanging on, and which Scottsdale custom builds were finished with two-stage equipment that needs specialized parts.

Cities we regularly serve include Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Queen Creek, Apache Junction, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Ahwatukee, plus surrounding East Valley and West Valley communities. If you're inside the 101, 202, or 303 loop, we can usually be at your door the same day you call.

"15/10. The heat has nothing on Matthew and Seth. They get the job done with a smile. 100% recommend."

Yasmeen Compean

"Fast Track is top tier. Matthew and his team are efficient, knowledgeable, and very reasonable. Tried them out before the summer and prepped for an AC tune up which went great. During the process of a moving inspection we had an issue that needed to be addressed and Matt had Seth out the next morning to fix it. Again great customer service. Hire these guys."
